I had a lamp that needed a new lamp shade but lamp shades are very expensive these days. I decided to make my own lamp shade using just the frame of the old one. I used burlap to cover the frame and then I made fabric flowers and attached them. Total project time was about an hour and a half. I don't know how exact that time is because I couldn't tell you how many interruptions I got. It turned out really cute and was really fun to do. I used burlap because it lets a lot more light through and the room I am using it in is very dark and needs the light. I used old t-shirts and just cut the sleeves off to get strips to make the fabric flowers out of. So the faded black and grey give a good compliment to the cream color burlap fabric. I love how this project turned out.
this did come out really cute! I have covered a lampshade with fabric (I used shell pink dupioni cut on the bias), I was happy how it came out. I never thought about covering just the frame - nice!
