Truffles

This quilt was for a trunk show.  It is made out of the Riley Blake Prairie Rose fabric line.  The pattern was "Truffles" out of the Simply Fat Quarter book by It's Sew Emma.  It turned out really cute.  It has tulips quilted all over it which I love.  The colors from this line are very pleasant.  This quilt reminds me a little of my grandmother, sweet but simple. I really believe that pictures really never do a quilt justice.

Great Gift

Recently I had another quilter friend of mine give me a quilt as a gift.  Most quilters don't think that giving another quilter a quilt is a very good idea.  Well I think it is a GREAT idea.  Everyone has their own taste and style.  Someone else giving you something they made is giving you a piece of them.  Also being a quilter I know what kind of time and money goes into quilts so I understand the value of a quilt.  This gesture means so much to me.  I believe you can never have too many quilts.  Anyone that knows me knows that I get cold all the time and so I usually always have a blanket wrapped around me.  This is my first piece of Americana style decor. Full of beautiful stars and stripes this quilt sets the mood for summer.  I love this quilt because it is big, fluffy, and very warm.  The back is lined with denim which I also love.  My kids love to drag this quilt around.  It seems like every time that I have a new quilt finished they fight over who gets to use it.  They would definitely agree with me that you can never have too many quilts.

Crooked Path out of Batiks

This is still my favorite quilt that I have made to date.  Last year I had taken a class and made this beautiful quilt.  It is a Mary's Cottage Quilt design called, "Crooked Path".  I love the colors that I had chose for this project.  I have had this quilt done for quite some time and just hadn't had a chance to get it on my blog.  I had my good friend do the quilting on this quilt and it is just exquisite.  She is so amazing!!!  I wish I had half the talent when it comes to machine quilting.  So here is this beautiful creation of mine.

Mystery Quilt Update

I just wanted to post updated pictures of my mystery quilt now that I have had it quilted.  Quilting makes all the difference with quilts I think.  This one turned out so pretty.  I have had it done and bound for a little while now I was just waiting for a good day to take it outside and get some good pictures of it with some natural sunlight.  Pictures just aren't the same when I take them inside my house.  Enjoy.

Easter Dress

UPDATE:  Here are some pictues of her wearing the dress on easter out in the sunlight where I could get a much better picture of this pretty dress and my pretty little girl. :)

Original post

I needed a little help getting motivated on this project.  I had the pattern and fabric for several months now and just had never done anything with it.  I mentioned to my mom that I thought this would make a really cute Easter dress.  So today she just came over and we got it all done in a matter of hours.  It turned out so cute.  I changed it a little bit from the origional design.  I look forward to making this dress again.  The pattern goes up to a size 10 in girls so we could still get a few more uses out of it.  The only difficult thing was that the fabric was directional so I had to make sure all the cuts I made went the right direction.  The pattern called for 3 ruffles at the bottom but I decided to go with just one and made the main body of the bottom a little longer as well to compensate for less ruffles.  It isn't quite as long as I would have hoped but it is perfect for her because she is just so clumsy I wouldn't want her hurting herself.  Who knows I may go back and add a second ruffle to make it a little longer.  We will see after she wears it for a whole day how she manages.  I love little maxi dresses and this one is my favorite little girl pattern that I have found.  Next time I make one I will for sure make it non directional fabric just to make it a little easier on my brain.

As you can see she thought that posing for my pictures was all just a joke and so funny.  She kept laughing the whole time not standing still and of course pulling faces.  She is sure my little monster.  She has such a fun personality.

Thank you so much mom for your motivation and help with this dress!!

One of my favorite quilts

This quilt was for a trunk show for my work.  It is one of my favorites I have done so far just because I am so in love with the fabric.  The fabric line I used was "Garden Grove by Kim Diehl".  The pattern is in a book called "Simply Fat Quarters" by It's so Emma. The pattern was called "Retreat".   In case you are interested in checking out this quilt it is at Elaine's Quilt Block in Cottonwood Heights, UT.  There are a bunch of other quilts on display not only for this quilt show we did but also just a lot of lovely quilts around the shop.  There are usually kits available for all of the quilts on display.  I love how rich the colors are.  This is a very fun pattern.  The quilting that was done on this quilt is absolutely exquisite.  I am so happy with how this quilt turned out.  I brought 2 more quilts for this specific trunk show but unfortunately didn't take a picture before they were hung in the store.  I look forward to bringing this quilt home. :)
