 I really like fish myself and was happy to have the opportunity to do a review for Gorton's.  I even found a new flavor I hadn't seen before to give a try.  I made 2 different flavors of the Gorton's fish at the same meal to give variety.

My kids wanted to try the Gorton's Tenders probably because they looked like chicken nuggets.  They were surprised at how much they liked the fish.  These tenders are so delicious and they don't have that "fishy" taste at all.  My kids ate all of what they were given.   We try to eat healthy so we paired these fish tenders with roasted potatoes and beets.  I really liked the Gorton's Tenders.  They had the perfect texture.  The batter also has a very delicious flavor.  We will definately be eating this flavor again.

The second flavor we tried with this meal was the Gorton's Potato Crunch Fish Fillets.  I really liked these fillets myself.  They were very crunchy which I loved.  Since the batter was a Potato Crunch batter it had that slight potato flavor added with the fish.  This added a lot of flavor to the fish.  My kids were more interested in the tenders but I will buy this flavor for myself again.  I hadn't tried this flavor before and I was quite surprised of how much I really liked it.  Gorton's Potato Crunch Fish Fillets are probably my personal favorite of the flavors I have tried so far.


The fish Gorton's puts inside the batter has a great texture.  It isn't "fishy" at all.  These fillets had the perfect color and are very appetizing in the appearance.  They taste even better than they look.  I really like the Gorton's products we have tried.  There are still a couple varieties I haven't tried yet but hope to try them soon.

Name Tapes and Labels offer custom name tapes and labels.   I love this product.  Personalized labels are such a great thing for anyone that is in quilting, crafting, clothing making, or even to add to your child's clothing.  

I was really excited to have the opportunity to do a review for Woven Name Tapes and Woven Labels.  I do a lot of sewing and was so excited to have something to personalize my projects.  Custom ordering is so simple with NameTapes and  Woven Labels.  You can have it say whatever you want and you have the option to add a image.  They have quite a few options to choose from.  You also can choose your background color of your label and the thread color.  I chose a cream background with a red thread color.  I really like these labels because they are woven instead of printed.  This makes the label last a lot longer than a printed label.  There are so many different options to choose with these labels.  They also offer Taggit as a form of attachment.  This makes it really easy if you want to use it to label your child's clothing.  All you have to do is take your label and clip the Taggit into the manufactures label.  Taggit are so easy to use.  I am so exited to have these labels to use to personalize my projects.  I hope to order some for my children in the near future.  I recommend   Woven Name Tapes and Woven Labels if you are searching for personalized labels.

For this project I wasn't able to sew the label on before I had my quilt machine quilted so I hand sewed it on after.

Northcott Fabrics have some great fabric lines out right now.  I recently made a quilt using the Magical Dragons line.  This was such a fun quilt to make.  I have to admit it was a quilt that I probably have spent the most time on because I was picky and the pattern I chose to use was very time consuming.  I wanted something fun with this fabric.  I decided to use black for the background  so that the colors in the Magical Dragons line would pop.  I love the effect this quilt has and how it turned out.  I used a pattern called "Lickety-Split" by Lella Boutique.

I love the Magical Dragons line.  It reminds me so much of my childhood and watching Puff the Magic Dragon.  I also really like that the colors in this line are so saturated.  I find myself being drawn to fabric lines with very saturated coloring. 

I used an orange stonehenge from the Stonehenge Kids Rainbow Collection.  I love the texture in the Stonehenge fabrics.  This color was perfect to make the center of the quilt pop. 

I am in love with the patterns and colors of this Magical Dragons collection!!

I was sent a set of the Bralief clips to try.  I have had problems with my straps sometimes falling off my shoulders even when they are all the way tightened. Being small with not very wide shoulders I sometimes have had problems finding bras that fit.  Bralief clips made my bra feel like it was just the right size. These clips were great for helping my straps be tighter and also have my bra feel like it fit a lot better.  I really like that they come in different colors to match your bra color.  It is also really nice that the clips themselves are adjustable.  You can make them hold your bra straps really tight or you can loosen them so it pulls the straps in just enough just to not have them fall off your shoulders.  As you can see from the photo above it also gives your ladies more of a lift and helps your bra fit well and hold them right where you want them.  I really like the Bralief clips for myself.  In fact I like them enough to share them with you and offer you a giveaway.  You can also find Bralief and purchase yourself a pack here.

 I am always looking for great laundry detergent.  When I was given this opportunity to review Purex UltraPacks with Oxi I jumped at the chance.  I have always really liked the regular Purex liquid laundry detergent.  This laundry detergent is one of the newest Purex laundry detergents.

This laundry detergent smells great!! I recently had the opportunity to review a print for Easy Canvas Prints.  I was so excited to do this review because it had been 4 years since we had our family pictures done and that meant that it was time to get them done again.

I really like that the Easy Canvas Prints come packaged nicely not to be able to flop around in a box and get all scratched up.  They are nice and secure in the box.

 

 The way that the photo is wrapped around the edge of the canvas looks really nice.  It gives it a really nice finished look.  You have a couple different choices when ordering on how you want your wrapped edge to look like.  I chose a mirrored image look and I really like it.

Some links between diet and depression

Depression is at least partly regulated by chemical balances in our bodies

In 2012, a study was published by the American Journal of Psychiatry, suggesting that a modern 'Western' diet is easily linked to depression, due to the high instances of processed and fried foods we consume in the west. This partly due to the fact that serotonin and immunity are regulated by the chemicals in our gut. Chemicals used to process foods can kill important bacteria.

…a “traditional” dietary pattern characterized by vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, and whole grains was associated with lower odds for major depression or dysthymia and for anxiety disorders. A “western” diet of processed or fried foods, refined grains, sugary products, and beer was associated with a higher GHQ-12 (depression anxiety) score.

So, a diet high in essential oils, with fish, lean meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, and whole grains will help you fight chemical depression, combined with regular exercise. Doing this is also just basically important for helping us to carry out our usual activities. Food has another function, not just scientific. It is comforting, and important socially and culturally, not just biologically. Sharing a meal with friends or family, going out to a restaurant, getting take away, or having a delicious meal delivered can be therapeutic in itself. This is because eating is a natural, and community based activity, something that can help us to feel normal, or make us feel unusual or special depending on how we do it.

Walk For Healing Hearts

This past Saturday my family and I participated in a walk for charity that is dear to our hearts.  This walk was for the support group Intermountain Healing Hearts. 

Intermountain Healing Hearts (IHH) is a non-profit organization for families of children or adults with congenital heart defects (CHD) and childhood onset heart disease.  Most of the members live in the Intermountain West area which consist of Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, and Wyoming.  Most of these patients are seen at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Intermountain Healing Hearts offer great caring support and resources to families.  In this process it helps them find answers to move toward finding healing and hope.

Our Background:

Our little girl was born with a CHD.  Her specific CHD is Tetralogy of Fallot With Pulmonary Stenosis.  Here is a comparison of a "normal" heart and a TOF heart.  Of course her's is worse because this picture just shows average TOF.  When she was diagnosed we were told best case scenario with this defect they wouldn't have to touch the pulmonary valve during open heart surgery. They did indeed end up having to alter the pulmonary valve and ended up having to put a patch in it and make it bigger temporarily. We were told it was one of the more worst case scenarios with this defect upon first open heart surgery.  She had her first open heart surgery at 7 months old.  Her pulmonary valve is much worse now with a patch at this time and we are currently just waiting for its replacement being an artificial valve. As she ages and her heart works harder her pulmonary valve will worsen again and need repeated surgeries to repair it again as it leaks too much.  Thanks to advances in medicine due to research it may become possible that she may be able to have hear surgery done in the future as a non-open heart surgery.  I hope that day will come.  As for now technology isn't that advanced for the bodies of little children and parts aren't yet small enough.

We love participating in group activities and love to meet other families that know what we have been through or are going through.  I also really like to participate in these activities because all the money that is raised goes for good causes.  One of the main goals is donating money to research to find causes, treatments, etc.  I know that medical technology has improved so much since 15 to 20 years ago due to research and technology.  So many of the things we come across now had no treatment or cure back then and now so many things do.  I look forward to new research and new ways of treatment to make our quality of life better.

Many people out there have been affected by many different medical ailments if not themselves but a loved one.  It is nice to know that there are many different types of support groups out there.  They have support groups for almost anything you can think of.  Support is great when you are going through a tough time.

 I am so grateful to have this little girl in our life.  She is a sweetheart and loves everyone around.  She has a great personality and so much love to share and she loves to take care of those around her.  She has been through a lot and it has made her the person she is today.  I wouldn't trade anything with her for the world.  She has made me more loving and a stronger wife, mother, and person.  I hope to one day be as tough and as great of an example as she is.  She really brings a lot of joy and light into our lives.  We are so blessed to have her in our family.

I won't go into any more detail about stuff here.  I just wanted to provide a little synopsis.  If I go into much more detail I will put myself in tears.  I never thought I could make it through many of the trials I have been through over the last 11 years, but I am still here and kicking.
