Fat Quarter Shop and It's So Emma Has done it again!!! This is another great quilting book made just for fat quarters.  Many of us have a stash of fat quarters laying around that our original idea just didn't pan out.  I personally have many of those types of projects.  This project was no exception.   I had purchased this Cat in the Hat fabric quite some time ago with another idea in mind and it just sat for a couple of years because I decided I didn't like my original idea so much.  When I had the chance to review this book I jumped at the chance!! I have SO many fat quarters laying around that I needed new ideas for.  I am looking forward to making many more of the patterns out of this book.

Here are some of the gorgeous patterns in the book.  There are 12 patterns total in this book and you can give them any look or taste by adding your own fabric.

The pattern I chose to do was called "Plume". (Featured above left)  I especially love this pattern because to me it looked like sun bursts. As I was making this quilt I did notice some different features in it that I didn't notice looking at the pattern.  In some of the places there are some pinwheels which look pretty cool because they aren't your basic pinwheel.  I like bright colors and so I kept with that theme and kept my background color nice and bright.  I also went very random with my placement on this quilt.  I am usually very particular but with Dr. Seuss there is nothing organized it must be random so I went with it.  It turned out great.  I can not wait to get this beauty quilted and bound!!!!  I am a child at heart and have to admit I actually made this for myself.  You can not tell from the pictures but this quilt is actually a queen size.  I could have made this quilt a crib size but I had so many fat quarters to use.

The book Fat Quarter Style is AMAZING!!  The instructions in this book are very easy to follow.  There are quilts in this book for every quilting difficulty level.  If you are looking for pattern books for your fat quarters I highly recommend you get this book.  Each pattern has more than one size.  Sizes include crib, lap, twin, and queen.  I LOVE when books do this because then I can use the same patterns over and over again with different fabrics.  Not only is this a great book and you are getting so many patterns but this book is also excellent price!!

  6. I am going to be making a tumbling block quilt for my son. I have started making "big kid" quilts for my three children, now that they've definitely outgrown their baby quilts. I've got the flimsy complete for my youngest daughter -- double nine patch with aplique, and some blocks done for my oldest daughter's star sampler quilt. sarah@forrussia.org

  7. I live full time on a boat, so my quilting space is very small. Fat quarters are perfect for my stash, so I have a lot of them! I love the idea of a pattern book based on FQs.
