Back to School

With back to school time approaching it is interesting to see what is going on around you.  My children love to get ready for back to school.  By the time summer is over they are bored and ready to go back.  Since they are so ready to go back they are more than willing to help find their own needs for school.  My children are elementary age therefore I don't have to buy as many things as moms with older children.  Some of my main concerns are clothing, shoes, backpack, pencils, and crayons.  I am definitely a mom that looks for the sales and deals.  I do think it is much easier  to shop for back to school supplies rather than for Christmas.  I don't feel so rushed and forced into quick decisions.

I find myself agreeing with many of the statistics in this survey.  Check out the information from this recent survey below.

Find&Save Survey Compares Back-to-School and Black Friday Shopping Behavior

Survey reveals about half of U.S. school-age kids help look for back-to-school sales
  • Approximately 60% purchase “needed” rather than “wanted” items when back-to-school shopping, in comparison to Black Friday shopping
  • More than 83% of children shop with parents and choose their back-to-school items
LOS GATOS, Calif. – July 31, 2013 – Wanderful Media®, the company behind Find&Save®, today unveiled the results of a survey of shoppers and their strategies to nab the best Back-to-School deals, and the latest school gear. The full report can be accessed here.

Moms prefer a hybrid approach to shopping, using a mix of online and in-store shopping. A large number (62 percent) reported less than one quarter of their back-to-school shopping will be done online, and only two percent plan to shop exclusively online. Of course finding sales is important for every shopping holiday, and more than half (56 percent) said they have more time to uncover back-to-school sales than they do for Black Friday shopping.
The 2013 Find&Save Back-to-School Shopping Experience survey consisted of 500 moms of one or more school-aged children, from kindergarten to college students. Some of the key points from the survey are shared below.

“Back-to-school shopping has emerged as a critical shopping holiday for retailers, and trails only Christmas as the biggest shopping holiday of the year,” said Lisa Romano, CMO of Wanderful Media. “Retailers and consumers both have altered their back-to-school strategies in order to optimize the return they receive. For retailers this means adopting a more advanced Omni-channel approach to reaching shoppers, and consumers have learned to leverage technology in order to improve their savings.”
With Find&Save, Wanderful Media is helping retailers by engaging shoppers around local sales and products, with the intent of driving shoppers across the threshold of retail stores. Find&Save is available to shoppers wherever they are, via tablet, mobile or web.
